    • @Muhammad S yes that’s true. It’s nice to learn about this stuff from actual people from Bangladesh. I once was speaking to a Bangladeshi and he didn’t like me using the word bengali but asked me to use bangla because it was better

    • @Inseram that’s just endonyms and exonyms. It’s like how French is natively français, Spanish is español and Persian is farsi. In the English language, it is correct to say “Bengali” whilst in our language it is “Bangla”.

    • @Abzino D I see. He said it’s because the Indians who are in that area near Bangladesh are Bengali but the Bangladeshis call themselves Bangla. So he didn’t want to associate with the Indians but maybe that’s just his understanding

    • I get where you’re coming from, Sylheti is very different from Bangla. They’re pretty much separate languages. Sylheti is also very different from the Chittagong language.

  1. Sylheti, Dhakaiya, Chittagonian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, Arab, Turk. We need to unite as Muslims and break past the borders.

  2. WALLAHI I WILL DONATE £100 LIVE ON YOUTUBE NOW IF DILLY CUTS OF THAT NASTY TASH OR GROWS A BEARD.. AKHI, YOU ARE NOT SEXY LIKE LEONARDO.. YOU LOOK LIKE MUMZY STTANGER

  3. Enjoyed watching this, bro Iksy is a natural comedian! Waiting for this podcast was like waiting for a Amitabh or Mithun film to come out in the olden days! 😜

Bro Akhi impersonates Iksy perfectly lol!

  4. I had to learn syhleti of my grandparents parents didn’t speak much at home and it’s still not proper fluent but I understand proper

  5. Im a Dhaka brother here. Tf I cant understand anything they saying. These dudes aint speaking Bengali. Thats Sylheti. These guys are like 5% of Bangladesh and talk totally different. They misrepresenting real Bengali.

  6. LOOOL the sudden change of accents sent me 🤣🤣🤣 great podcast as per usual.. nice to take a break away from the intellectual/serious stuff once in a while 💯💪🏽
    32:28 well syncedd

  7. “Is bhabi Bengali?”
    “Yeah”
    “Alhamdulilah”

What if she wasn’t Bengali? Would Alhamdulilah change to astagfarAllaah? Lol

  8. I’m with Iks, go reconnect with your roots people, Bangladesh has a lot to offer!!! On a side note, where’s your Bari Dilly??

  9. As salaamu alaykum brothers, sisters, friends and foes.

    Jazakallah khayran.

  10. Surprise to know bro Dilly is has Bangladeshi parents, I always thought he is from Pakistani heritage. Another reason to be blood brothers! 💪🏼

    • @Munna Khan clearly you don’t know the history of genetics! Didn’t Allah say , ‘ we created you from a single of a male and female, and made you in to tribes and nations so that you may know each other.’

    • @Munna Khan you said i am talking nonsense. I qouted the Quran. Have some decency!. And as a muslim i believe the Quran as the word of God, so if God is saying we all come from one singular genetic then how is it not possible for some bengalis to have afro-asiatic ancestors?

    • @Abayomrunkoje Musa bro you complicating things, bengalis are native of hindustan we are an ethnicity which is thousands yrs old, yup we converted to Islam but we don’t have anything related to middle east

  11. Asala Mu Alaykum; I love these videos, however Dilly, you seem to super impose your opinion in order to get the guest speaker to follow your opinion. Its like leading the individual. Ask the questions my brother, dont start off with an opinion and then ask if they agree with their own experiences. Duroh Miah. 🙂

  12. Jokes aside this is a brilliant channel and I love the content. Its unfiltered, which I love and a big spud to both the hosts! Continue to be real and original.

  13. I’m a Dhakaiya and I understand this, most likely the other guys are diaspora Bengalis. A lot of misinformed people writing rubbish in the comments and having district wars, the only difference between Sylheti dialect and Standard is the pronunciation and some grammar. All the vocab in this podcast was basically the same as how I speak just different pronunciation.

    • @Fuad Ahmed Actually that’s not true. I’m Sylheti and I’ve noticed we don’t even intermarry with other sub-districts like Beanibazar (perceived as stingy)! There’s so many negative stereotypes e.g. Habiganjis and Nabiganjis speak “weird”. Btw no offence intended, just pointing out that even Sylhetis aren’t united

    • Af Dl
personally I’ve never come across any situations where is Sylhetis aren’t united, yes there are banter here and there but those are all jokes within but not being united is something new…

    • @Marufez _ actually, he is correct to say it is a borderline dialect. Geographically, Sylhet is bordered to non-Bengali-speaking lands except of course to the east. It’s the northeastern part of Bengal, where Bengali language ends. The reason why Sylheti is viewed as a Bengali dialect and not a separate language is simple because our people, Sylhetis, identify as Bengalis, Bengali speakers and share a common culture. Otherwise, just like the Assamese, our Sylheti Maat too would be considered as a separate language.

    • @M Alam What makes him talk like a freshie? Just because he speaks his mother tongue really well without an English accent ??? NOT everyone is a coconut 🥥 like you!

    • Mizanur Ahmed
      Why use words like kombol?
He’s 30 years old, I wonder what his in laws say about that? Daman is khobis and embarrassing.
Indians have intellectual people, Pakistanis have smart people and we have iksy. There is no talent from him just stupid

    • @Qur’an for Sleep Man I’ve had enough of you extreme separatists. Sylheti is an eastern Bengali dialect. The Sylhet Nagri alphabet was developed around the 17th century as an offshoot of Nagri script which came from Kaithi script. It was used to write in formal Bengali, not Sylheti. It was used not just in Sylhet, it was used in Calcutta, Noakhali, Dhaka and Bankura too. Get your facts right

  14. Wallahi!!
    Brother You’re from BANGLADESH!! 🇧🇩
    Feeling so Proud!! 🤩
Funny thing is despite I’m from BANGLADESH, i Didn’t understand Sylheti bangla! 😅

  15. Iksy don’t do anymore podcasts till your fully ready and have more substance. You drove to Bedford and these brothers spoke more then you! 🙈

  16. Most Sylhetis think they are the only people from Bangladesh who are living in the UK. For them as far as the British Bangladeshis are concerned, only Sylhetis that matters. Majority of them think all non-Sylhetis are Dhakaiya. And Dhakaiyas speak Shuddho dialect. There are people living in the UK from all 64 districts of Bangladesh with their own regional dialects, cuisines and features. Sylhetis need to come out of this tribalistic bubble and narrowness. The same jahiliya you will notice amongst Pakistani Mirpuris. The Ummati Mohammadi is one body and Muslims are one people with one book, one objective and that is Worship Allah (SWT) by establishing Tawheed and Adal/عدل/Justice on earth. Islam came to abolish this tribal narrowness which unfortunately a lot of them have re-adopted from their colonial masters the British/France/Dutch…

    • @Fuad Ahmed well, the thing is, Islam isn’t ‘just’ a religion, i.e. it also has guidelines regarding things like politics. The problems come when, like you say, the *muslims* start messing around, it’s not Islam’s fault, of course. I think, if understood properly, why couldn’t Islam be used to unite different nationalities? That seems like a very obvious ultimate aim of the religion to me, and we can see how this was implemented during the prophet’s (sws) time, e.g. with interethnic marriages

  17. We Sylhetis are like a mini family because of our same language culture and similar roots area region the beautiful village landscape area from our ancestors came from

  18. Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad has good content (in his books, etc) about how to integrate into British culture while retaining Islam and ethnic cultures

  19. Sylhet has always been a land and culture and kingdom of its own prior to it being incorporated into The Bengal during the Mughal era, The British Raj, East Pakistan and now Bangladesh. Prior to these periods it was its own kingdom.

    • @Abzino D India itself has a history spanning way longer than the Mughal civilisation. Sylhet was incorporated into the Bengal administration as it became a Muslim land and allied itself with the Bengal Nawabs. However, if you read history prior to the arrival of Mughals it was a kingdom of its own which actually had Khasia tribal kings such as Raja Gaur Govind who was Khasia tribe who fought against Hadhrat Shah Jalal and even before that had a Sylhet was a land where Indo Aryans, Tibeto Burmese and Dravidian peoples settled but the original inhabitants were Tibeto Burmese tribes i.e. The Khasia and etc.

    • @Abzino D Read the Mahabaratha and Puranas and they even state Sylhet as Silhata which was its original name and how it was its own kingdom and land until Bengalization in the last 300 to 400 years.

  20. When iksy said “the problem is bengali’s don’t support bengali’s”…i felt that! Pinned the nail on the head with that comment, rate that!

  21. What brother Iksy says about Bengalis on Tik Tok is Cyber bullying, Cyber bullying is sadly very prevalent on Tik Tok among people of various backgrounds.
I myself (when I used to use tik tok ) as a Pakistani have come across several Pakistani tik tokers that have made videos bullying other tik tokers.
I’ve seen this bullying on YouTube too.
I assume Iksy is much more likely to come across Bengalis that engage in cyber bulling as oppose to other groups because , I’m guessing he mostly follows Bengalis and there for gets also recommended to watch other videos by Bengalis , there for brother Iksy is much more likely to come across cyber bulling among Bengalis as oppose to other groups .
In reality it’s a big problem in tik tok among people of differrent backgrounds.
I remember reading an article about it just a couple of weeks ago.

By the way well done brothers on a brilliant podcast 👍🏼

  22. Dilly Bhai..much credit to you in helping this Bengali from America care more about his roots. Looking forward to visiting y’all soon in the UK. I can only pick up like 60% of that Sylheti dialect though.

  23. The one thing I would say is as Bangladeshis we have made a significant impact in the restaurant industry but most of these restaurants identify as Indian restaurants. If every Bangladeshi restaurant identified as Bangladeshi then our culture and cuisine would’ve made an even bigger contribution to British society

    • @Qur’an for Sleep Man I’ve had enough of you extreme separatists. Sylheti is an eastern Bengali dialect spoken mainly in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, and neighbouring Barak Valley in the Indian state of Assam. There are also Sylheti speakers in the Indian states of Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur, as well as in the USA and UK.

  24. Man this is one of the best episodes! Loving the bengali culture!

One of my favourite parts is when Dilly Bhaisab went serious on his bro @33:19 and then his bro in a scared/serious face says ‘nah that’s not true’, keep watching till @33:49. And then bhaisab continues on @34:13 and then his younger bro in a scared/serious face says ‘what’s going on now, what’s happened to this podcast I don’t understand’

Reminds me of my brother and I. I’m like 10 years younger than him but we have good bants, and then suddenly he drops the respect bar on me now and again. I’m like bruv y you gonna be like that.

  25. the brother in the green hoodie, defo a big fan of Iksy, love how he randomly comments with the accent and the back and forth with iksy Haha

  26. I agree with Iqsy, we need to know our roots, I love going to bangladesh whenever I can, every chance I get i would love to go, we need to teach our children about our roots and take them to Bangladesh often to teach them about the value of everything, if we don’t teach our children then what would become of their children.

    • Thing is, the traditions are backwards especially for women (Bros with wives would understand), hence youth extend that disdain towards their parent country.

  27. Sylheti is an eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in the Sylhet ( ꠍꠤꠟꠐ / সিলেট) region of Bangladesh, and neighbouring Barak Valley in the Indian state of Assam. There are also Sylheti speakers in the Indian states of Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur, as well as in the USA and UK.

The Syloti-Nagri alphabet was developed around the 14th century by Saint Shahjalal and his 360 saintly companions, most of whom were Arabic speakers. Other scripts used at the time were deemed unsuitable for the Sylheti language.

In the 1860s, Moulvi Abdul Karim spent many years in Europe and learnt the printing trade. After returning home, he designed a woodblock type for the Syloti-Nagri alphabet and founded the Islamia Press in Sylhet in about 1870. Other Sylheti presses were established in Sunamgonj, Shillong and Kolkata. These presses fell out of use during the early 1970s. Since then the Syloti-Nagri alphabet has been used mainly by linguists and academics.

  28. Iksy hit the nail on the head. It’s unbelievable how true that is. Bengalis don’t support each other at all. The tiktok example he brought up is very true. When I scroll down and see Pakistani/Indian tiktoks the comment section is filled with support. Whereas the bengali tiktok comments are filled with hatred.
That’s ultimately down to the fact that our parents never taught us to support each other. I’ve seen it first hand; jealousy between families, discriminating against people from different cities… different villages even.. discrimination within culture is one of the saddest things I swear.
This will never change if we let the mindsets of our forefathers prevail.

  29. I am 42 years old and I absolutely love this brother, Iksy. A legend in his own right.

Alhumdullilah keep it up and gagging for some new stuff especially with Cha, the 6ft bangali from balagonj 😜

  30. Religion isn’t something you joke about, the Western society is trying to bring back mockery which started from our prophets time and it’s sad to see Muslims joining in the mockery.

  31. I hope I can visit Bangladesh one day. I’ve seen pictures of places there and I love how close to nature people are. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

    • I am mixed race, Pakistani dad/Scottish mum, have lots of Bengali friends from school days. Could never understand the beef between Pakistani boys and Bengali boys during school days, felt so unnatural to me and I stayed clear as much as I possibly could. I have seen pictures and videos from when friends have gone to visit relatives and I love the looks and vibe from Bangladesh, Insha’Allah I will visit one day.

  32. I’m not Bengali but you guys are dope.
I will check him out I love comedy. Don’t worry I’m Somali and our people can be harsh too. Let’s all support each other as Ummah of our prophet Muhammad SCW PBUH.

  33. Sylhetis created the divide by stereotyping all non-sylhetis as Dhakaiya. There are so many areas in Bangladesh but they label most non- Sylhetis as Dhakaiya when they’re probably not even from there

    • This is not true at all. Sylhetis are very aware of other regional people other than Dhakaiyas. Maybe the British diaspora might not know, but more than half of them are coconuts anyway. Coconuts don’t represent us

  34. Sylhoti is an independent language its own. It’s not a dialect or accent of Bengali language ! Sylhoti language also have its own letters called Sylhoti Nagri lipi. Sylhoti letters are totally different than Modern Bangla letters.
    Sylhoti Nagri language : ꠀꠝꠤ ꠡꠤꠟꠐꠤ ꠛꠣꠋꠣꠟꠤ ꠄꠛꠋ ꠛꠣꠋꠟꠣꠖꠦꠡꠧ ꠕꠣꠇꠤ⁕
    Bengali language : আমি সিলটী বাঙালী এবং বাংলাদেশে থাকি।
Look at the difference between Bengali language and Sylhoti Nagri language. It’s totally different. Sylhoti language is 900 hundred yeras old and Bengali language is only 500 years old. Based on the history Bengali language came from Sylhoti language. Before 1947 Sylhot use to be part of Assam. After 1947 Sylhot became part of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) by voting.Sylhoti people vote to Pakistan to become part of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) because Sylhoti people was Muslim. Sylheti people didn’t vote to become part of Assam because they were Hindu. The main reason for Sylhot being separated from Assam is only religion. But Assamese and Sylhoti people share the same culture and language except for religion. When the European, Middle eastern traders and Islamic saints came to Sylhot to preach the Islam religion to the Native Sylhoti Hindu people. A lots of Native Hindu Sylhoti people converted to Islam 700 hundred years ago and got married with those Foreigner people. That’s how Islam came to Bangladesh. Sylhoti people are very mix race. Sylhot’s old name use to be (Sri Hatta) means (gorgeous market) cuz Sylhot was a one of the best Beautiful business place for all foreign traders in the Indian subcontinent. Then they change the name into Sylhot to make it easy for everyone. Then Dhakaiya people officially misnamed it (Sylhet) like they want to call. The real and correct name is Sylhot. If you have time, go through this website so you can learn the real history of Sylhoti language and Bengali language….
    https://youtu.be/bchdNNIq2Dg

    • Never seen such an ignorant comment in my life. We speak a Bengali dialect just like the rest of Bengal has their own dialects. Sylheti isn’t a separate language! Nagri lipi was used to write formal Bengali. It was an alternative script, get your facts right. It was used in many places too not just Sylhet.

    • @Zain Uzzaman
Due to the dominant political reason of Bangladesh, Bengali speakers don’t want to recognize Sylhoti as a different language. But we Sylhoti people know Sylhoti is not a dialect of Bengali cuz when a dialect can developed It’s own writing system It’s no longer a dialect. It becomes a separated independent language. Sylhoti language even has It’s own grammar,Writing system and vocabulary too and It’s not even a dialect of Bangla. Sylhoti language has nothing to do with Bengali language. Sylhoti language has all kinds of qualifications and features be a separated independent language.

  35. Etymology. From Urdu مولوی‎ (maulvi), and its source, Persian مولوی‎ (mowlavi), noun use of Arabic مَوْلَوِيّ‎ (mawlawiyy, “of a lord or master”), ultimately from مَوْلًى‎ (mawlan, “master”). Compare mullah, maulana.

We all know why people named ★Moulvibazar★ cuz it was the market place of all Middle Eastern Arab’s trading business place. Where they used to trade with Indigenous Sylhoti people. (Moulvi and Bazar both of the word originated from Persian language.) I did a personal research on my own in Sunamganj,Habiganj,Moulvibazar and Sylhot districts of Sylhot division. Only Muslim Sylhoti families claimed their male ancestors were Arab. We know Hindu Sylhotis are not fair/light skin and they look nothing like Arab looking Muslim Sylhoti people. They look like dark skin typical Indian or Bangladeshi looking features. Sylhoti Hindu people didn’t get married with Arabs cuz they can’t get marry with some one out of their cast if they were practicing Hindus. So there is no doubt only Muslim Sylhotis are a mix race of 50% Arab Father and 50% Indigenous Sylhoti Mother.

  37. Bengali is not a race It’s a ethnicity. Sylhoti is also a ethnicity just like Bengali, Assamese, Panjabi ect. All South asian countries people r racially Arian. However some illiterate Bengali people start to think that Bengali is a race. Sylhoti r same race as Bengali but mix with others race like Arab,Turkish, Persian, Mongolian ect. That’s why Sylhoti and Bengali don’t look alike. Bengali people look more like Indian when in other side Sylhoti people look more Persian or Arab cuz they r descendants of Arab and Persian.

  38. Sylhot division was a part of Assam even before 1947. In 1947 India
and Pakistan got independent from British empire after the war. India wanted Sylhot division to become part of India but Pakistan didn’t want that. So Sylhoti people said they will choose their own country by voting them. They said If Sylhoti people want to become part of Pakistan they have to vote for “Ax symbol” or If they want to stay with (Assam, India) they have to vote for “Hut house symbol”. Most of the Sylhoti people were Muslim by religion so they choose to go with Pakistan. That’s how Sylhot was separated from Assam. After 1971 when Bangladesh got Independent from Pakistan, Sylhot become officially part of Bangladesh from East Pakistan. There is more Sylhoti live in Assam,India than (Sylhot division, Bangladesh.) There are more Sylhoti live in other Indian states like: Tripura,Meghalaya,Assam,Manipur,Nagaland. They been living there since civilization. Assam was out of Bengal all the time. That’s why Assamese people don’t consider them as Bengali. Sylhot used to be a important state of Assam. Even Assamese language is very similar to Sylhoti language. Like an example:
    English: Forget.
    Bangla: Vhule gechi.
    Sylhoti: Faawrilisi.
    Assamese: Faahorilisi.
See the similarity between Assamese and Sylhoti language. There is a dance in Assam call Bihu. Bihu dance and song is very similar to Sylhoti Dhamail dance and song. Assamese food, culture, language, clothing style are very similar with Sylhoti culture.

  39. Sylhoti language even has It’s own grammar and vocabulary too and It’s not even a dialect of Bangla. Sylhoti language has nothing to do with Bengali language. Sylhoti language has all kinds of qualifications and features be a separated independent language.

  40. Sylhoti is a different language than Bangla.Sylhoti language has It’s own writing system2.Sylhoti language has nothing 2 do with Bangla

  41. Sylhoti is an independent language its own. It’s not a dialect or accent of Bengali language ! Sylhoti language also have its own letters called Sylhoti Nagri lipi. Sylhoti letters are totally different than Modern Bangla letters.
    Sylhoti Nagri language : ꠀꠝꠤ ꠡꠤꠟꠐꠤ ꠎꠣꠔꠤ ꠄꠛꠋ ꠛꠣꠋꠟꠣꠖꠦꠡꠧ ꠕꠣꠇꠤ⁕
    Bengali language :আমি সিলটী জাতী এবং বাংলাদেশে থাকি।
If you have time, go through this website so you can learn the real history of Sylhoti language and Bengali language…

  44. I am mixed race, Pakistani dad/Scottish mum and have lots of Bengali friends from school days.

  45. As a guy from the Bangladeshi community I want to say Iksy you’re right about us bengali not backing each other especially when it get down to family stuff or our peoples out. Its properly due to immigrants “wanting to have a better quality of life”, whilst we (us the upcoming generation takes care of our future and youth). Its not like the 70s no more when Bengalis were heavily invloved in the streets protecting our blood, family and our commnunity which also includes other ethnic backgrounds too such as Albanians, Somalis and the Turks. More to my point about immigrants, they have an old school mindset but yet an uncivilized or unclear mindset onto/ about these modern advances whether living in the UK, Europe/Balkans or USA. Immigrant parents are most likely the hardest to explain about us (youths whom grew up in UK, and yet developing and taiming stress on our heads), I also believe that us bengalis are just completely ashamed to help each other but they easily move foward. It is wrong, completely. Immigrants say that they had a difficulties on living, but they were privledged but when it comes to their kids, its entirely a different story.
Earlier I mentioned about bengalis being on the streets,
Yes, in the 70s after the liberation war bengalis did help out not only their community which situates in East London (Bangla Town/City) which stretches to Dagenham, Tower Hamlets, White Chappel few parts in Walthamstow and Leyton and lastly Luton (North London). The established in kidnapping, Murders/Homicides, toturing, but however bare in mind they made there name for people who were racially against Bengalis. The NCA (National Crime Agency) even states that the Bengalid are the 2nd most feared ethnically as of their ruthless acts on the steeets (we’re underatted for it). Ever since then Albanians came and live at our sides of East London and situates themselves and then started there gang which came an infamous cartel “Hellbanianz”, which specialises in drug trafficking, human trafficking and much more. The Hellboys (its short name) they made there name from there ancestors “The Albanian Mafia” which was created vy the Italians, during the war of Kosovo, Majority of the Albanians (or mixed raced albanians) shipped themselves into East London and started doing there thing after what there father left. Then it was Somalis. The Turks used to bang alot in the streets but died quickily by the bangladeshis, same goes for the Jamaicans too.
